The review meeting took place on December 19, 2016, at the Ogbia LGA Council, with a total of 26 participants, including 7 males and 19 females, in attendance. Also present were members of the RHF project team, including the Project Manager (PM) and the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer.
The primary focus of the meeting was to appraise the activities carried out over the last quarter, providing an opportunity for participants to reflect on their experiences and the challenges encountered during the project. The discussions centred around the Home-Based Care (HBC) service forms, which were carefully reviewed to ensure that all data was accurate and complete. Necessary corrections were made to the forms, and participants shared lessons learned throughout the project.
A major point of the meeting was discussing ways in which the HBC program could be sustained even after the RHF project’s conclusion in the communities. Volunteers were encouraged to continue their support group activities, ensuring that they stay actively engaged with community members, especially vulnerable individuals who may require care. Furthermore, CVs were encouraged to actively seek new clients to join the support groups, thereby ensuring the program’s impact continues to grow.
Additionally, CVs were advised to establish strong linkages with other support groups across the state, fostering cooperation and enhancing the reach and effectiveness of their efforts. Building good relationships with organizations such as the Nigerian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (NEPWHAN) was also emphasized as a crucial part of ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the support initiatives.
The meeting concluded with participants feeling more empowered and equipped to continue their efforts in the communities, ensuring that the benefits of the program would be felt long after the project’s official end.
