The monthly M&E meeting with Home-Based Care (HBC) Community Volunteers (CVs) and Role Models took place on November 25, 2016, at the Federal Medical Centre, Otuoke. The event saw the active participation of 26 attendees, consisting of 2 males and 24 females, all of whom were volunteers and role models from the seven project-targeted communities in Ogbia LGA.
The meeting began with a recap of the previous session, delivered by Mr. Ebiye Igudu. Madam Inetimi Catherine, a Role Model from Ogbia Town, also took the opportunity to highlight an issue raised by the RHF Project Manager. The concern centered on the need for CVs to improve their commitment to their responsibilities, as there had been complaints about a lack of effective execution of duties.
The RHF Project Manager addressed the concerns, reminding the CVs of their essential roles in providing Home-Based Care to People Living with HIV (PLHIV). She emphasized the importance of serving as role models in their communities, offering psychosocial support to those in need, and making connections between identified PLHIV and support groups and health facilities.
Furthermore, the Project Manager emphasized the critical need for increased attention to client tracking, ensuring that volunteers consistently followed up with their clients and provided them with the necessary care. She encouraged the CVs to build and maintain their self-confidence, reiterating the importance of working together effectively as a team to enhance the impact of their collective efforts.
The meeting closed with a call for continued dedication and collaborative work, with a focus on ensuring that all tasks were carried out to the highest standard.
