Monthly M&E and quarterly meetings were conducted with 60 trained Community Volunteers (CVs) and 40 Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) in Oji-River and Enugu-East LGAs on PMTCT at their respective health centres. Additionally, 12 CVs in Udi, Ezeagu, and Enugu-East LGAs participated in meetings focused on PLHIV support, while in Nsukka and Nkanu-East LGAs, 10 CVs attended sessions on OVC programming.
The purpose of the monthly M&E meetings was to review progress, collect activity reports, distribute stipends and phone recharge cards to CVs and TBAs, and assess achievements against set targets. These meetings also provided an opportunity to identify challenges and make timely corrections to improve service delivery and project outcomes.
Distribution of Birth Packs:
As part of the meeting activities, all TBAs received 25 birth packs each to support safe delivery practices in their communities. Each pack contained essential maternal and newborn care items, including:
-
Pampers
-
Baby powder
-
Baby soap
-
Hypo (bleach)
-

The TBAs in Enugu-East LGA expressed deep appreciation to RHF and its partners for the provision of these birth packs, noting that the items would greatly enhance their ability to provide safe and hygienic care to mothers and newborns. This distribution also reinforced RHF’s commitment to improving maternal and child health outcomes through both capacity building and material support.
