The RHF team organized and conducted a comprehensive Free Medical Outreach in Affa Amofia-Agu, Udi Local Government Area, Enugu State, on December 27, 2016. The outreach was designed to provide residents—particularly vulnerable individuals and those with limited access to healthcare—with essential medical services at no cost.
The event brought together healthcare professionals, community volunteers, and RHF project staff, all working collaboratively to ensure the success of the programme. Services provided during the outreach included basic health consultations, blood pressure checks, malaria testing, distribution of essential medications, and health education sessions. The medical team also offered counseling on disease prevention, hygiene practices, nutrition, and the importance of seeking timely medical care.
The choice of Affa Amofia-Agu as the venue was informed by the community’s identified healthcare needs, as many residents face challenges in accessing regular medical services due to distance, financial constraints, and limited facility capacity. By bringing healthcare directly to the community, the RHF team aimed to bridge these gaps, promote healthier living, and encourage early detection and treatment of common health conditions.
Community members turned out in large numbers to participate in the outreach, with many expressing appreciation for the services rendered. For some, it was their first medical consultation in months or even years. The outreach not only addressed immediate medical needs but also strengthened the relationship between RHF and the local community, reinforcing the foundation’s commitment to improving health outcomes in underserved areas.
This initiative formed part of RHF’s broader mission to deliver accessible, quality healthcare to vulnerable populations while promoting long-term health awareness and sustainable community well-being.
