Disbursement of Startup Grant to Indigent PLHIV

On October 30, 2015, the RHF project team carried out the disbursement of startup grants to 15 indigent People Living with HIV (PLHIV) who had previously completed skill acquisition training under the project. The beneficiaries were drawn from three Local Government Areas in Enugu State—Enugu-East, Udi, and Ezeagu.

The primary objective of the grant disbursement was to empower these individuals to begin viable income-generating activities that would support their daily needs, improve their standard of living, and promote economic self-reliance. Each beneficiary received ₦20,000.00 as seed capital to invest in small-scale businesses or trades aligned with the skills they had acquired during the training.

This intervention was also aimed at reducing the financial vulnerability of PLHIV, enhancing their ability to sustain themselves and their households, and fostering a sense of dignity and independence. By providing the means to earn an income, the grant programme contributed to both economic empowerment and the overall well-being of the beneficiaries, while also supporting the long-term sustainability of the project’s livelihood component.
