Advocacy Visit to 30 Communities In Enugu State

Advocacy visits were conducted in 30 communities from the five selected Local Government Areas, Enugu State. The purpose of the advocacy visits was to:

  • Create community awareness of their involvement in the HAF implementation and the sustainability of the World Bank project, HIV & AIDS Programme Development Project-2, to the community.
  • Raise community participation and ownership of the project, which will help increase uptake of PMTCT and HCT services among community members.
  • Prevention of New HIV infection among infants through community involvement for sustainability and ownership.

These communities and LGAs include:

  1. Nsukka: Ihe-Owerre and Owerre-Obukpa.
  2. Nkanu-East: Ugbawka and Akpawfu.
    Ten CVs were chosen to help provide care and support services to the OVC.
  3. Oji-River: Okwe (Oji-Urban), Agadala-Inyi, Isikwe, OkpunoAgude, Ugwoba, Alum Inyi, ElugwulaNkpokolo, Amankpunato, Umuogbuagu, and Agulo.
  4. Enugu-East: Ugboghe, Ugboezeji, Ugwuagor, Ugbodogwu, Mkpologwu, Emene, Agbogazi, Ugbowa, Aguowa, and Iji Nike for PMTCT.

Sixty CVs and 40 TBAs were also selected for sensitization, referral/follow-up, and special operational practice (SOP).
